Privacy Policy
How DealProspect collects, uses and protects your information under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
Last updated: 19 August 2026
1. Who we are
2. Information we collect about you
- Account details — your email address, a password (stored only as a one-way hash), and, if you give them, your name and company name.
- Buyer profiles — the acquisition criteria and description you enter to be matched with listings (sectors, regions, deal size, what you do, and so on), any website address you give us so we can pre-fill the profile from the public pages at that address, and any extra email addresses you add to receive alerts.
- Deal profiles — what you tell us about a business or transaction when you use the find-a-business, find-equity or find-debt tools, and the matches saved against it.
- Saved and viewed listings — the listings you save, and (when signed in) the listings you open, so we can show what you have already looked at.
- Messages — what you send us through the contact form, with your name and email so we can reply.
- Technical information — your browser type, a sign-in token kept in your browser, aggregated page-view analytics, and automatic error reports if something on the site breaks (these are set up not to include your personal details or record your screen).
We do not collect more than we need for the service, and we do not ask for sensitive information.
3. How we use it
To run the service — building your buyer or deal profile, producing and updating matches, showing you your saved and viewed listings, and sending the account emails (verification and password reset) and the match alerts you set up — to respond to your enquiries, and to maintain, secure and improve the platform. We use it only for those purposes, or as otherwise permitted under the Privacy Act.
Profiles and matches are prepared with the help of an automated AI service: it reads the criteria or deal details you enter (and the public pages at a website you give us) to prepare the profile and to score candidates against it. We do not use your information to train models. Matches are indicative and always yours to review.
Your buyer and deal profiles are private to your account. They are not shown to other users, and DealProspect's registered buyers do not appear on the public Buyers page.
4. Information we publish from public sources
The listings, buyer mandates, private-equity and lender directories, past-listings archive and distress signals shown on DealProspect are compiled from publicly available sources — brokers' own websites, company and fund websites, public web archives, and public registers such as the New Zealand Gazette. Most of it is information about businesses rather than about people, but some of it can identify individuals — a sole trader, a director, or the insolvency practitioner named in a Gazette notice. That information is collected from publicly available publications and shown for general information (see our Terms of Use). If any of it is about you and is wrong, out of date or you would like it removed, tell us and we will act promptly.
